Thomas On Target As Reserves Win

Reserves Report - Swans Win 1-0

Just got in, via the pub. 1-0 win, Thommo penalty in 1st half. For what they are worth, here's a few of my views Trialists: Dutch right-back - send him back on the first ferry. A few good things, but he is not young, not the best of track records, and didnt do enough to persaude me or those around me that he can offer anything to the squad. Earl Davies - big strong and physical. Not really tested but showed enough to suggest that he could be a good signing. However, he is still raw. Finnish defender - the pick of the four. Looked steady, comfortable on the ball, showed good awareness and won a few headers in the first half.Only just arrived in Swansea, but I feel we might see more of him. Matthew Delicate - I have to be honest and say I'm a little disappointed by what I saw. A big lad who I don;t think won a header, and certainly not the most physical of players. Showed some nice footwork occasionally, but generally was a yard off the pace, physically & mentally. Other than them, mixed reports on the 'first teamers' on display. Murphy gave an impressive delay of handling, with one outstanding save. Erratic kicking in first half, got much better as time went by. Coatesy was his usual frustrating self, mixing great passing with unbelievable miscontrols! Thommo left a lot to be desired with his first touch in the early stages, improved and went close a few times to a second. Connolly showed some nice skills and passing in the first half befor exiting, but Roberto? Oh Roberto, how I wish you were fit for Preston, but you obviously aren't. Not in the game, passing going astray. I think we might be best off leaving you out on Saturday. Finally, a very promising subs appearance from young Mikey Waters gave a lot of food for thought. Playing on the left wing, he tried and succeeded to beat the last man, ran at people and got some good crosses in. A potential answer to our problem of balance? Might even be worth a place on the bench against Preston, you know the score - last 15 mins, evenly balanced, throw him on - they certainly wouldnt have prepared for him?
