Rayner Is Next Up

Next Please!

Ovendale was expected to have a better than even chance of tying up a Swans contract after emerging with a great deal of credit from York's doomed campaign to stay in the football league last season but clearly Jackett did not like what he saw and released him ahead of the opening friendly on Saturday at Worcester.

Gueret on the other hand is expected not only to feature in the Swans game at the weekend but also to make the trip to Holland for the Dutch tour. Jackett wants a longer look at the man that is rated highly by many Millwall fans despite him being released from the club

The trial offered to Rayner is an interesting one. At 6'8" you certainly would not miss his presence in a defensive line but there has to be some misgivings about his history at only Port Talbot and Barry. Whether that kind of experience is enough to provide us with confidence as a serious replacement for Roger Freestone is open to some serious debate between Swans fans

Meanwhile the unofficial Wycombe web site is reporting that they are close to agreeing a two year deal with midfielder Clint Easton to snatch him from our cluthces which of course is interesting to all of us considering its the only place that appears to have ever linked us with him?

A couple of hundred Swans fans are expected to make the trip to Worcester on Saturday for the Swans opening friendly of the summer - kick off is at 3pm.
