There are no hiding places tomorrow as the Swans head to Northampton with their promotion chances not quite hanging by a thread but certainly becoming more distant as they get further away from the feeling of a run of form.
With just one win in the past seven weeks, it is somewhat testament to the tightness of this division that we remain in fifth place with the chance to climb back into the top three. Other seasons would have seen our chances virtually disappear after that kind of record but the fact that the chance is still there needs to be drummed into the eleven players that Kenny Jackett will send out on the pitch tomorrow.
Those eleven players will certainly not include the name of Brad Maylett who has headed North to join Boston on an initial loan period with a view to a permanent move. Maylett has never hit the heights for the Swans with any form of consistency and the interest from the Pilgrims was enough to persuade Kenny Jackett to part with one member of his squad ahead of a make or break ten days for his team.
Following tomorrow' immensely tough trip there is a home game with Macclesfield and a day out at Cheltenham to follow over the Easter weekend next week and by the end of that I suspect that the manager has targeted at least six points otherwise his public target of 80 points could be pretty much a pipe dream.
Jackett's good news of the week was the fact that Lee Trundle's suspension was overturned by the FAW following his red card last week against Rochdale and he has been further boosted with the news that Garry Monk should return to a defence that has looked decidedly shaky in his absence. Alan Tate though is not fit and long term casualty James Thomas will be able to concentrate on the egg chasing international in Cardiff if he so chooses.
For the home side, Colin Calderwood will not be talking to Kristian O'Leary following his statements about agents fabrication in midweek but he will welcome back David Rowson and Tommy Jaszczun into his side as he looks to complete a league double over the Swans after their convincing win at the Vetch on opening day.
Former Swan Marc Richards looks likely to miss out as he is not back to match fitness and neither is defender Ashley Westwood.
This is crunch time for the Swans and with nine games to go it needs to be all or nothing so fingers crossed and hope for the former?
