Andrew Davies has gone to Stoke

Saints fans are up in arms about the transfer of Andrew Davies to Stoke City, but before they apportion the blame, they need to look at the situation as a whole.

First up is that its believed that Davies had a clause in his contract that Saints would sell if a Premier club bid a certain figure for him, a figure that mysteriously enough Stoke offered to the pound, I wonder how they knew that ? perhaps Davies agent would know, so that being the case Saints had no choice but to sell, who was responsible for that clause and indeed the fee is another story.

Secondly, undoubtably for Davies it offers a chance to get back into the Premier and probably double his wages as well, so we shouldnt be too harsh on him for jumping ship.

But the problem for Saints is, as reading prepare a bid for Andrew surman is that they need to raise cash, but those they want to get rid of, wont move on because their wages are far too high and they dont want to take the drop, in truth its easy to blame the players here, but the finger should be pointed at those who brought them to the club, if we were willing to pay them that salary, then its not unfair of the player to want to receive it.

Its going to be a difficult time, I feel sick to the core about what is happening, but the truth of the matter is that the Club has little choice at the moment.

I feel that history will judge George Burley harshly, he will be remembered for signing average players for big fees on grossly inflated wages, with most of them failing to perform, step forward, Jason Euell, Rudi Skacel, Wayne Thomas, Kelvin Davis, Bradle Wright Phillips, Stern John, Jonh Viafara, Chris Makin, Gregorz Rasiak, Jermaine Wright,  to name but a few
