Roberto Martinez insists that a top 10 finish in this first Championship season will be a huge achievement

The Swansea City manager was speaking to the Evening Post as he prepared his side for the 41st match of that season and knowing that his team will probably have to win all five remaining games to extend that beyond the 46th match.

A tall order it maybe but it is one not outside the Swans grasp although Roberto was happy with everything his side had achieved this season.

He told the paper "Seeing some of the clubs down at the bottom just shows you what a ruthless league the championship is.   You look at Southampton, Charlton, Norwich and you can ee that this league doesn't take history into consideration.

"It shows you that you have to work very hard for every point and that if you switch off a little bit you will get heavily punished.  You have to be very careful in this league and the fact that we are in the right fight is something to be proud of.

"Not many people gave us a chance to compete for a play off place in August but that's where we are now.  If we cna finish anywhere in the top 10 this season that will be a huge achievement.

"If we get 15 points from the last five games we will be in the play offs.   Even 13 points could be enough and while it's a big ask for any team we have the quality to go on that kind of run."

Norwich are the weekend visitors to the Liberty and Roberto admits that he didn't expect to see them at the wrong end of the table when things started off in August "It's a surprise to see them down there.   When you start the season you point out certain clubs with special histories and think they are going to be big occasions when you play them.

"Nowich are one of those sides.  Having said that the team we are playing tomorrow is completely different to the one we faced at Carrow Road earlier in the season.

"Their position in the table doesn't reflect how good they are."
