As a former Sheffield United player, David Cotterill is keen to get one over on Sheffield Wednesday this weekend

Cotterill may have moved on from Bramall Lane but he is keen to shoot down his former cross city rivals this weekend as the Swans look to cement their play off position for Christmas

Speaking to the Evening Post, Cotterill said "I'm looking forward to every game — I'm really enjoying my football now — but this is a game I'm particularly looking forward to

"I played in the derby earlier this season — it was a great occasion and the atmosphere was unbelievable.

"They were 3-0 down but came back into it and pulled it back to 3-2, but they fell just short.

"I'll get a lot of attention up at Hillsborough, but being on the end of stick from fans is something that doesn't bother me at all.

"There's Beatts and Nath, too. I'm sure they will get a lot of attention, but I guess I will receive the most.

"I've not scored since I've arrived and I would love to open my account tomorrow — it would be a great place to start.

"I guess it wouldn't go down too well in the blue half of Sheffield, but I'm sure the United fans would be happy with it as well as our fans.

"But the most important thing is that the team does well and we get the points tomorrow.

"I need to get a few starts under my belt now and allow some consistency in performances to come through," he said.

"When you play on the bounce you get your rhythm going.

"It's the same for teams.

"Consistency is crucial. Newcastle are doing very well — they aren't pretty on the eye but they get results.

"A good example for us is the Plymouth game. We were nowhere near our full potential but we ground out a victory and that will be crucial come the end of the season.

"Some of the results have been crazy — you can't predict any results in this division.

"It's a really open league. There are teams below the top six that will shoot up the table if they win a few games.

"If we get at least seven points from our next three games then our position will improve vastly too.

"But you look at Sheffield Wednesday and the position they are in, and I find it strange because they have good players.

"Wednesday are a really big club and they will be very disappointed in what has happened there so far.

"Their manager has gone and they are looking to take the club in a different direction.

"They will have that on their plate, so we can take full advantage of that.

"But this game is about what we do. If we stick to our game then we will get three points."
