Late goals from Scott Sinclair and Stephen Dobbie maintain the Swans perfect home record for the season

There are some games that need you to knuckle down and be patient to gain the victory that you deserve and this was exactly one of those.

The Swans had been frustrated by a hard working and well organised Scunthorpe side who were keen to build on their midweek victory over Sheffield United but maintained their game plan and eventually got their just rewards - even if it had to take to the 82nd minute for them to get the breakthrough.

At that point it was Scott Sinclair who hit home from close range to give the Swans the lead they totally deserved having had the better of what few chances there were in the game.   To add the icing to the cake two minutes later Stephen Dobbie fired home following a classic counter attack as Scunthorpe looked to up their game to get themselves back on level terms.

The two late goals came after an intriguing afternoon at the Liberty that saw the visitors arrive looking for a point but the credit must go to Brendan Rodgers who did not waiver from his own game plan of keeping it patient in the belief that the openings would come.

And they were there throughout the afternoon right from the early minutes when new signing and debutant Frank Nouble could have opened his tally inside the first minute.   Garry Monk hit the bar, Scott Sinclair saw a shot well saved and another fire just wide of the post and this was before the game was fifteen miunutes old.

The flow of the game was not helped by what seemed to be another poor refereeing performance and questionable bookings for both Garry Monk and Ashley Williams before an elbow on Joe Allen was completely missed and Allen earned himself a booking as he sought his own retribution.

Swansea though always looked the most likely to open the scoring and as Brendan looked to make his own changes in the second half he introduced Stephen Dobbie and David Cotterill to try and force the breakthrough and both subs seemed top unsettle our visitors and eventually led to the goals coming.

Seven games into the season and the Swans have broken into the Top 6 in the Championship and if we can now start picking up points away from home to add to what seems to be the start of a formidable home record then it could just be the season we all dreamed of.

Nice work lads!
