Is Gaston's Agent Preparing The Way For A Return To Italy
Is Gaston's Agent Preparing The Way For A Return To Italy
Tuesday, 23rd Jul 2013 08:55

Judging by press comments attributed to him, Gaston Ramirez's agent would like to see his client return to Serie A.

There has been speculation in since the signing of Victor Wanyama about how the kenyan would be included in the central midfield line up, would it be Jack Cork who would lose out or would Mauricio Pochettino be looking at a slight change in formation and playing three holding midfield players in the central and therefore be sacrificing that third spot to an attacking player.

Whatever the speculation it seems Gaston Ramirez's agent  Pablo Betancourt is keen to make sure that certain club;s know his client may be available and ameniable to a move, whether Betancourt is working off his own back in a desire to generate more fee's for himself or whether he is doing so after discusion with his client is unclear, but what is sure is that Betancourt at least wants to make sure that Ramirez is in the shop window even if there isnt a for sale sign on him at the moment. After all what other reason would he have in commenting on specualtion that he himself admits has nothing "Concrete" about it.

Commenting on speculation that Inter Milan may be in for his client Betancourt said

“I don’t think they’re just rumours,” Betancourt said. “Italy remains in his heart and Inter are a great team.

“But I don’t like to talk about things that are not concrete.

“If an offer comes in, we’ll consider it.”

There you have it some speculation about speculation, looking at what Betancourt says it seems to contradict himself in every sentence, he doesnt think they are just rumours ! well apart from Saints and Inter he would be the one to know !

He doesnt like to talk about things that arent concrete ! well why is he doing just that !

If an offer comes in we will consider it ! that is almost an invite to potential buyers, its telling the footballing world that his client is open to offers.

Whether Saints want to sell or not is the big question, however its not just that in today's game players hold the cards, if Ramirez wants to go then he will go no matter that he still has a long time left on his contract, if a big money player is unhappy then you are probably better as a club to get your money back and use it better elsewhere.

Perhaps Ramirez is reading the writing on the wall, after starting in the first games under Saints new manager back in February he was suddenly not an automatic choice and perhaps it was that frustration that caused him to lash out at Shane Long resulting in a red card and three game ban that ended his season, whilst I have no more knowledge that the next man on what Saints or the players thoughts are, I do know that the fact that both parties may say they are happy with each other doesnt neccessarily mean they are and when a players agent starts to speak out as Betancourt has just done, there is usually something going on, maybe we will find out just what in the coming weeks.

MoPo has said that Ramirez is in his plans for next season so if he`s to be believed the player is not for sale. Furthermore because Ramirez is under contract in theory at least another club can only speak to him and his agent when a transfer fee has been agreed with Saints.

Betancourt had nothing to do, so sat down in a bar with his best friend Mr Reporter, who had nothing useful to do either. Betancourt opened a big book and began to read..."and so Snow White found herself wandering helplessly lost in a deep, dark woods and then she came across a cottage in a clearing....."

Tom, in theory you are right, but how many managers have said a player is in their plans only for them to be sold soon after ? quite a few would be the answer.

With regard to clubs speaking to agents, whilst you are right another club cant discuss terms with a player or his agent till they have the permission of the parent club, the reality is that it happens all the time

I think this is paper talk but clearly his agent is doing nothing to quell any rumours
