Newcastle Game Heading For Sell Out
Thursday, 20th Mar 2014 13:08

Saints top ten clash with Newcastle United is heading for a sell out with over a week to go before the game.

With 9 days to go before the arrival of Newcastle United it already looks like the game will be a sell out with only around 1,500 tickets still available in the normal seated areas.

Around 900 of these are in the Northam End block 43, these were originally allocated to Newcastle but have been returned by the North East Club, usually it would be early next week before a club decides whether or not to return any unsold blocks, but Newcastle are clearly having trouble selling even 2,000 tickets for this fixture, which is strange for a club who routinely would fill the away section at St Mary's on every visit.

Saints fans intending going are urged to act fast and buy tickets before they are snapped up as a sell out is expected in the early part of next week, however a surge in sales could see the tickets go over the coming weekend.

One area sold out though is the block reserved for Football Scouts, Chelsea and Man City snapped up seats in that area as soon as they went on sale with Arsenal, Spurs and Man Utd not far behind, tickets are already being traded on the London Stock Exchange and Man City shares rose by 17p when it was confirmed they had 12 tickets for this fixture and options on 6 more.

Newcastle's away support has certainly fluctuated over the years. Back in the late 60s and early 70s, when teams like Man United used to bring more than 5,000 fans to the Dell, Newcastle hardly ever brought more than 200.
