Pompey prove thorough at Thurrock Wednesday, 23rd Jul 2014 00:02 by pompey-fans.com staff Three games played, three games won - and while the likes of Bournemouth and Charlton will bring tougher tests for Pompey next, you can't complain about the results and performances notched up so far. If there was a disappointment at Thurrock, it was they only scored two goals - where visits to higher-placed Havant & Waterlooville and Bognor has yielded 10 goals. Two first-half Craig Westcarr strikes sealed the win while Ryan Bird and Andy Barcham were among those to miss chances to extend the lead after the break. Manager Andy Awford conceded that was a slight downside but told The News he was happy with the latest work-out. Awford said: 'I was really pleased with the lads’ attitude and they stuck at it, which is what you want from pre-season. We should have got a few more though, which is my only criticism. ‘You look back at all our pre-season games so far and you have to say we should have got more goals. But the lads are doing what is asked of them and are controlling games, which is really good.'
