Why Saints Need Manchester City To Push On
Wednesday, 18th Mar 2015 09:47

With Manchester City dropping back into a dogfight for the top four rather than chasing Chelsea, Saints fans are praying for a City revival.

Recent weeks has seen a spate of good results for Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool, aligned with two defeats in the last three Premier League games for City mean that Pellegrini's side are starting to look behind themselves with worried glances rather than upwards at Chelsea who if they win their game in hand will be 9 points ahead of City.

This is not good news for Saints supporters who were rather hoping that come the final game of the season when their team travel to the Etihad, City would have nothing to play for and be happy to think of their summer holidays giving Saints a better chance of picking up a point or three.

Indeed the thought of a Saints win at the Etihad meaning that they pushed United down the pecking order appeals not just to the St Mary's faithful but to City supporters as well who were probably thinking along the same lines.

But unless City buck up their ideas it could be far different on that final day, City might need something to ensure a Champions League place for the following season and we would prefer not to have to go there in that situation.

Of course it doesn't hold any fears for us, after all we have drawn at Chelsea, won at Old Trafford and it took an injury time goal for Arsenal to beat us at the Emirates, but infootball you take all the help you can get and if that is a City side with their heads already on a beach and their supporters willing us to win then I will take that.

So you want to beat them at the Etihad because they're not trying? Talk about a hollow victory. I say lets beat them when they need the points.

Arise valiant Saints and vanquish the enemy, We are the Saints, Its not just a name. Its who we are !!! (Could do with a bit of music here) ;-)
