Dawson off to Scunny
Wednesday, 20th May 2015 16:52 by Col

Midfielder Stephen Dawson has left the club following the expiry of his contract and has signed a two year contract with fellow League One side Scunthorpe United.

After the end of his one year contract at Spotland, Dawson has exercised his right to look elsewhere and has signed for Scunthorpe on a free transfer. Dawson started 27 league games for the club last season in what was an injury hit season. Despite those injuries, he won many a plaudit for his midfield role for the club, winning a couple of Player of the Month awards along the way.

Dale boss Keith Hill admitted that he wished he could have kept him and said that Dawson had been offered a new deal at the same terms as to what he was already on, but with room to negotiate upwards from there, but the two year deal offered by Scunthorpe was way beyond this. The deal offered shows a real intention from Scunthorpe to be challenging for the top two next season.

In joining the Iron, he has signed for his fifth club in six seasons.
