Pompey get season-ticket sale boost

Pompey are on course to sell more season tickets than they did last year.

For 2014-15, 11,047 tickets were sold, which was an increase of 387 on the previous campaign. Now CEO Mark Catlin has said sales are ahead of last year - a pleasant surprise given that fans have a third season in League Two ahead of them.

Paul Cook's arrival as manager and subsequent new signings have doubtless helped get people to sign up.

Catlin told The News: ‘It’s been outstanding and we are continuing to outstrip last season’s figures. Like-for-like with last year, we have now moved ahead of where we were. We’ve nosed ahead and the momentum is continuing to build.

‘The season-ticket sales have blown me away from my own expectations. I honestly thought there would be a natural decline this season. There’s the Paul Cook factor and the energy and enthusiasm brought to the playing side of the business. But, once again, the supporters have excelled themselves.’

Early-bird prices are still available to supporters until July 4.

Meanwhile, the Blues are closing in on Burton's Adam McGurk and Peterborough's Christian Burgess.
