Britton Plays For Reserves And Admits MLS Interest
Wednesday, 15th Jul 2015 23:46 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

Leon Britton was in action for the Swans reserves this afternoon when he played in the 2-2 draw with Wrexham but as you expected it was questions about his future that were higher up the list of things to talk about.

Britton was named in the Under-21 side (not bad for a 32 year old!!) having asked to stay behind from the German tour after Garry Monk told him that game time would be very limited whilst the Swans were away.

The decision to leave him in Swansea seems to be the biggest hint yet that Britton could be on his way with MLS sides reported to be interested particularly Orlando City who seem at the moment to be at the front of the queue to get the midfielder's signature.

And whilst he may be on his way it was interesting to see Kyle Copp's comments on Twitter after the game which shows you just what kind of esteem Leon is held in not just by the fans but by his fellow professionals

Britton though after the game was fending off questions about his future and he admitted that there was interest from MLS teams

"There has been dialogue with a few people in America but there have been no offers at the moment," he said.

"Football is football, things can change so quickly.

"I wanted to stay behind because speaking to the manager it looked like I wasn't going to play in Germany unless there were injuries

"So I asked if I could remain behind to get some game time, because last pre-season was cut short by injury and I didn't want to not play again if I could help it.

"Something could happen in Germany and all of a sudden it changes overnight."
