Bafe Has To Stay

The Swans simply have to keep hold of Bafetimbi Gomis no matter what interest comes from Dubai this summer and it is good to read that the papers are reporting that it should be the case.

Yesterday’s newspapers were reporting that “Emirates outfit Al Ahli are reported to be ready to throw money at luring the French striker to the Middle East in a bid to regain their UAE Pro League title and that enquiries have already been made about the 29-year-old’s availability.”

Gomis though for me is a vital part of the team that will embark in three weeks time on a journey that we hope will eclipse last season’s record breaking run.

And it was the goal of Gomis that played a big part in getting us to where we ended up last season. He scored winners against Arsenal (twice) and Manchester United amongst some of his other goals and I think we will see even better things from him this time around.

I think personally he has 15+ goals in him and whilst the signing of Portugal international Eder will provide him with competition for the season, Gomis for me will be the man who will start in possession of the role up front and it is for Eder to move ahead of him.

His frustration last season was understandable as he was always going to play second fiddle to Bony before we sold him. I firmly believe that the Swans signed Gomis under the belief that Bony would be sold in the summer but that was not to be the case and that kept Gomis on the sidelines.

However, since the sale he is first choice and his football and general demeanor proves what he has about him and whatever the interest is then we have to ensure that Gomis remains a Jack.
