Saints And Stoke Battle For Barcelona Starlet.

Saints are in competition with Stoke City for Barcelona youngster Adama Traore according to the Spanish media

Stoke have already signed Marc Muniesa and Bojan Krkić from Barcelona's youth system and are said to have been interested in Adama for some time. Southampton have recently added themselves to the list along with Manchester City, say Mundo Deportivo.

Traore is part of Barcelona's B squad and has yet to break into the first team set up although he did play one La Liga game for them as well as a Champions League game back in 2013/14 season both as a second half substitute.

Ronald Koeman is known to be looking for a genuine winger and Adama as he is known fits that bil., The young winger has a buyout clause of €15m, which converts to around £10.5m, that may be enough to hold interest off for now but the player's desire for progress could push Barcelona into a loan, if he impressed on loan then that £10.5m clause could be more appealing, although Ronald Koeman might be wary after the Alderweireld situation.

But a loan might be the answer to Koeman's dilemma, his problem is he has a lot of attacking options to hand already, if he were to spend big on say the likes of Andros Townsend, the player would probably not get in the side so would be an expensive luxury.

Adama however would be a cheap alternative and add to the armoury for the season, yes of course there is no guarantee that we might be able to sign him if he were to be an outstanding success, but Koeman knows that the loan system is there to be used and signing a player at the end of the loan isnt always the end game, its sometimes about plugging a gap for a short time and Adama might just do that.

The problem though is that Stoke and also Everton who have also been linked might offer a better chance for the player to play games and that could hand the advantage to either club over our good selves.

We've got Sam McQueen why waste money?

Fair enough Ron wants a winger but the priority is obviously central defence. Seems to have gone very quiet on this front so I hope the long standing rumour about Van Dijk coming after Celtic's European 'jolly' proves to be true.
Any good young player incoming is good news, but we already have players who can play wide and I'd put the need for at least one central defender and some help for Pelle top of the list of targets.

I don't want to hear anymore talk about Andros Townsend. Stop harking back to his England performances. He has one trick where he cuts inside and shoots with his left. He is of a similar ilk to James Mclean who was found out very quickly in the Premier League.

Spurs fans think he's garbage and it would be a travesty if we bought him.

Although transfer rumours are nonsense 90% of the time, it is a little worrying that there's nothing being reported linking us with a CB. Except for Vlaar of course, but I'd be very surprised if we went for him on a number of counts.
The reality is that we're going to be playing against Vitesse with Fonte and Yoshida at the back or, if we manage to get someone in very soon, with Fonte and a CB who have never played together.
Not ideal, but if Yoshida can do this again I'll be happy:

Sounds exactly like the rumour linking us to that young Scandinavian winger at Real Madrid. Although an out right winger would be a good addition to the squad and offer us a different option, I am not sure if there is really a need, what with the attacking options we already have. Tadic, Long, JRod and Mane can all play wide and we have a couple of useful kids.

Keeping your goals against down is the key to success in the Prem (or any league for that matter).

If we are looking for another goal scorer, why are we not in the market for Charlie Austin? If only to keep him away from our competition, or at least drive up the price if someone else signs him?
