Bertrand And Clasie Both Back In The Squad Within A Fortnight
Friday, 18th Sep 2015 18:36

Saints manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed that long term injury due Ryan Bertrand & Jordy Clasie will both be back in contention for a place in the team within a fortnight.

Bertrand has not yet featured for Saints this season and Clasie was injured early in the second half of his competitive debut for the club against his fellow countrymen Vitesse.

They have been the tip of the iceberg in an injury hit start to the season for the club and it is testament to the depth of the squad these days that Saints have manged a solid if unspectacular start to the season despite so many key players out injured.

The return of these two will be a big boost to the squad, Bertrand is already back training with the squad and Clasie is due back on Monday and this will enable Ronald Koeman to finally have a full squad to pick from assuming no more injuries of hissy fits.

Speaking at this afternoon's press conference Koeman said.

“I think we are close to having some players back,The planning for Ryan Bertrand will be that he plays his first 60 minutes on Monday with the Under-21s.

“Jordy is not as close like Ryan. He will start training with the team from Monday on and maybe takes one week longer.

“We hope everything is going to go well and that means in one or two weeks both players will be back.”

Can't see either being ready for Swansea this month, which is a shame. Just hope they've bedded in for the late October games against Leicester and the scousers.
