Martinez - Montero Is the Hardest

There is no tougher test than Jefferson Montero according to Everton boss Roberto Martinez who believes that defender Tyias Browning will only find things easier having had to mark the winger on Saturday in the 0-0 draw at the Liberty.

Browning was in the side in place of the injured Seamus Coleman and he managed to keep quiet Montero for the large part of the game with the Swans winger not able to cause the havoc that he has against other sides so far this season.

The defender's performance drew some strong praise rom former Swans boss Martinez who said after the game just how disappointed he was that his side had not secured the win.

The performance of Browning though was a clear plus point for him "I am sure Tyias will forgive me for putting him one to one with Montero on his full league debut – I think one day we will laugh about that," Martinez said.

"But we have a real belief in Tyias. He is probably the best defender one-v-one we have at the club, and I thought he was magnificent.

"Any other task from now is going to be a piece of cake for him after that.

"Remember that the task of defending against a winger like Montero is always going to be challenging and tricky, and always adapting to the Premier League tempo is a harder task for a younger defender.

"I thought he took two actions to get used to that and afterwards he was magnificent.

"For us to be able to leave a player like Tyias one on one with Montero was very important because we needed that extra player elsewhere."
