Anderlecht Midfielder Once Again Linked
Friday, 20th May 2016 09:35

Saints were linked with Anderlecht's Dennis Praet last June and almost a year later he is yet again being touted as being a target for not only us but several other Premier League club's.

On June 28th last summer this site carried a story stating that Saints were interested in Dennis Praet, an attacking midfielder in the number 10 mould, able to sit behind the forwards and create.

A week later we put out another piece covering that Praet had recently changed agents and that they were ruthlessly trying to hawk their new client around Europe and create the impression that there was a huge demand for his services.

Nothing came of our interest last summer, if indeed we even were interested.

A year on and again we are linked along with Leicester, Arsenal, Liverpool and Middlesbrough, but the question is, are we really interested ?

Praet himself has had another solid season for Anderlecht, although he does has not made the Belgium squad for the upcoming European Championships and has yet to add to the one cup he has so far received for his country as a 76th minute substitute in November 2014.

He is however entering the last year of his contract and therefore his agents will be redoubling their efforts to find him a club able to pay him more than Anderlecht which of course will be reflected in their own fee's received.

So perhaps this rumour has as much substance as the one a year ago, the fee quoted is around £10 million, which seems steep even considering his considerable experience in the Jupiler League and indeed Europa as he is approaching almost 200 games for Anderlecht having just turned 22 last weekend.

He looks a bit small for the premier league but pretty happy to be at Saints.
