Who Was Saints Dirtiest Player This Season ?
Monday, 23rd May 2016 09:59

Find out who was not only Saints dirtiest player of the season, but where he stood in the overall rankings for conceding the most fouls.

It will come as no surprise that Victor Wanyama is officially Saints dirtiest player after having conceded 50 fouls during the season resulting in 3 red cards, more than any other player in the division and numerous other yellows.

But Wanyama is ranked only equal 10th in the rankings of the top 20 foulers in the Premier League, perhaps highlighting that for most part he was very controlled in his aggression, but strangely had those rushes of blood at key moments in those three matches.

One surprise though is that ex Saint Morgan Schneiderlin beats his former team mate in the rankings, despite only starting 25 Premier League games many of which he was taken off, plus another 4 as substitute, the Frenchman is equal 8th with 52 fouls.

Another surprise is that out of the 20 players in the hall of shame, 4 of them are from Tottenham Hotspur, Erik Lamela is 2nd in the table with 66 fouls only two short of winner Idrissa Gueye of Aston Villa.

Lamela is joined by Spurs team mates Erik Dier who has 52 fouls, petulant superbrat Dele Alli with 50 and Mousa Dembele on 48, so much for Spurs being this free flowing footballing side, although in fairness most of them where probably committed in or after the game at Chelsea after their controlled implosion of their season.

Petulant superbrat - I like it.
To be fair to VW, your DM should be your dirtiest player

Love a player that make a tackle. Players that do this more than most will pick up more yellows and reds than others. No question in my mind: I'm hoping Big Vic stays at Saints. He's quality.

If (I only send off Wanyama) Clattenberg did his job properly and acted impartially Victor would be a lot further down the list.
