LFW Easter Championship Preview

LFW takes a look ahead to a busy programme of Easter fixtures in the Coca Cola Championship.

Welcome back to LFW Championship Preview, this time for the Easter programme, which often has been known to determine teams fates with two games in as many days for most of the Championship. In saying that, Leaders, Wolves and Reading are both in action on Good Friday, with games against Southampton and Sheffield United respectively. Wolves lead at the top was cut to just 2 points with a 2-0 defeat last Monday night away at promotion rivals, Birmingham. Reading v Sheffield United looks like a cracker, with the Blades overtaking the Royals and moving into third spot after their midweek win over Barnsley and are now just 3 points from the automatic positions.

With the other teams chasing the play offs, Cardiff travel to London to take on Palace on Saturday and Burnley, take on QPR at Turf Moor – LFW Preview of the game will be online soon... Just outside the play offs and Preston will be hoping that the R's do them a huge favour on Saturday, by beating their local rivals and enabling the Lilywhites to close the gap on the Clarets in 6th place. Preston take on another local rival, Blackpool at Deepdale on Saturday.

Down at the wrong end of the table and things still look as close as ever, with the exception of Charlton who are stranded at the bottom and 11 points from safety... and that is before taking on promotion hopefuls, Birmingham at the Valley. Forest have a tough looking home game against Bristol City and Southampton, as already mentioned, have a daunting trip to Leaders, Wolves on Good Friday.

Moving swiftly onto Easter Monday and we have a full programme of fixtures to look forward to. It again, looks a very tough day for the sides down at the bottom with Forest travelling to the very much in form, Sheffield United, Charlton travelling to Coventry and Southampton are at home to Palace. Looking anxiously over their shoulders are Norwich, Barnsley and Plymouth. Norwich take on Watford at Carrow Road, Barnsley take on Swansea at Oakwell and Plymouth, have the toughest out of the three as they visit 2nd placed (at the time of writing), Birmingham.

Wolves make the short trip to Derby and Reading face a long trek up to Blackpool. But the game of the day could arguably be the 5th v 6th clash from Ninian Park as Cardiff take on QPR's Saturday opponents and the in form, Burnley.
