Brian Clough's family are upset over the content of David Peaces book "The Damned United".

The Derby Evening Telegraph report that Brian Clough's widow is furious over a fictional portrayal of his time at Leeds United.

Clough famously spent 44-days at Elland Road after succeeding bitter rival Don Revie. Mrs Barbara Clough is concerned that the book portrays her late husband as an unlikeable figure.

Mrs Clough said: "I picked up a copy of the Evening Telegraph in which the book was reviewed and started to read what people were saying about my husband.

"Then later a friend told me that people were going to think that Brian was just like he is in the book, which he wasn't.

"I have to feel strongly about something for me to make a comment about it so this goes to show how upset I am about this book."

The author and his publishers declined to comment. The book, which was released over a year ago is a ficticious portrayal of Clough's ill-fated reign at Elland Road. In an interview with BBC Leeds, Mr Peace revealed that he attended Clough's very first game in charge when Leeds played at Huddersfield Town - as he is a Huddersfield Town fan, who now lives in Japan.

Clough died in September 2004.
