Despite the recent signing of Enoch Showunmi, Macca still wants to add his forward line before the start of the season.

As well as the new signing, Leeds already have Jermaine Beckford, Tresor Kandol and Anthony Elding, but the boss still isn’t satisfied with this department of his squad and still wants to bring in two more strikers. After the success of bringing Dougie Freedman in on loan last season, he wants to bring in another experienced front-man, and is likely to persist with this search despite failing to land Kevin Phillips.

Another bid has been received for Elding, who turned down a move to Crewe last month, saying he wanted to stay at Leeds and fight for his place. Maybe the problem was that he would have taken a big drop in wages to move to Gresty Road, but by now he might have got the message that he isn’t in the manager’s plans and that he would spend the next two years in the reserves if he saw out his contract at Elland Road.

Meanwhile, Enoch Showunmi will make his debut in the friendly at York tonight, alongside his fellow new signing Andy Robinson. McAllister told the official site

“The aim against York is about getting up to speed. As much as it's our first game, there'll be a lot of substituitions and we'll probably be using two teams on the night. Everyone has come through the first week unscathed and is travelling and will play a part. When that first whistle goes people will be competitive," he said. We have to be ready for that. As much as I want players to avoid injury I want them to be competitive."

The game kicks off at 7.30 at the wonderfully named Kitkat Crescent, and Leeds fans can pay on the night.
