A local derby awaits in the JP Trophy.

Seven long years have passed since Bradford City came to ER.

It was a visit they would rather forget, having been hammered 6-1 on their way to relegation from the Premiership.

But our nearest and no-so-dearest are back on September 2nd in the Johnstones Paint Trophy First Round in a League One v League Two clash.

It will be a chance to say hello again to David Wetherall, now part of the Bradford coaching set-up. The "Prof" as he was affectionately known due to having a first-class honours degree in Chemistry, played over 200 times for Leeds before leaving for Valley Parade in a £1.4m deal in the summer of 1999.

To me, that was one of David O'Leary's bizzarest decisions. Okay Wethers was never going to be England material, but O'Leary replaced him with £5m worth of Michael Duberry, who in my opinion was not as good as Wethers.

But that is all water under the bridge and the pride of West Yorkshire is at stake. Leeds say they will announce ticket prices in due course, but according to www.leedsunited.com the Bantam's fans will be given the entire South Stand and the SE Corner.

Meanwhile former Leeds defender Darren Kenton has gone to Bristol City on a trial basis. The stopper was at Leeds on loan from Leicester last season and neither club offered him a deal, so Championship side City have given him a chance.
