Clough on cloud Nine as Leeds sink to 12th - Leeds 1 Derby 2

Leeds Unitef fell to a ninth consecutive defeat against Derby County. Today's proceedings may have been a little harsh on the whites', events since the final whistle have inevitably overshadowed the result and this latest defeat leaves Keeds closer to League One than the Premiership.

In what was to be Neil Warnock's 62nd and final Leeds match in charge, he threw on 18 year old Chris Dawson who caught the eye with some surging runs and neat touches in what was a drab opening half.

Neither keeper was seriously troubled until the 41th minute when Paul Green was denied a second goal of the season against his former club when his edge of the box shot cannoned off the crossbar, Dawson so nearly marking his debut with an assist for the Eire international.

Dawson was gradually being muscled out of the contest and Ross McCormack took his place. Derby had the ball in the net on 63 minutes, but Sammon was adjudged to be offside. With a few gradual rumblings of discontent directed at the Leeds boss flurrying around the stadium, McCormack brought Elland Road to its feet by smashing home a stunning 67th minute strike from the edge of the box to put the whites' in front.

However Leeds lead lasted just five minutes, Martin was felled by Jason Pearce. The much maligned Sammon smashed the spot kick onto the bar but the advancing Paul Coutts reacted quickest to the rebound although there was a strong hint he had encroached the area.

Leeds responded and Byram looped a header onto the crossbar.

Then came the final nail in Warnock's coffin and the extension of the Derby hoodoo to almost double figures, Pearce appeared to be shoved on the build up which saw Jake Buxton nip in and head home an 87th minute winner.
