Refwatch - Boreham Wood v Rochdale

Dale’s first game of the 2025/26 season at Boreham Wood on Saturday will be refereed by WAYNE CARTMEL.

This will be Mr Cartmel’s fourth Dale appointment with the previous three all coming in the last ten months.

Last October, Wayne was in the middle for Dale’s 2-2 draw at Ebbsfleet, while in February he refereed the return fixture at Spotland, which finished goalless.

In between those games, he had overseen our 2-0 win at Leamington in the third round of the FA Trophy.

Now based in Luton, Wayne grew up in the Lake District and started work as a farm hand, before moving into teaching.

He subsequently became the founder and CEO of the company providing the leading applicant tracking system to improve efficiency in the realms of school and trust recruitment, for which he has won a number of awards.

This will be his fourth season refereeing at National League level, although the new system of match officials means he could also officiate in League One and League Two.

Last term, Wayne took charge of 15 matches in the National League, showing 51 yellow cards and just a solitary red card.
