Late 1980s/early 1990s. I'm talking one word.............................curtains. I grew mine that long that for short while I, loudly and proudly, pony-tailed it.
As you know, I was something of a fine upstanding citizen back then and the hair-cut to be admired and copied was, Stone Roses and Mondays aside, the guy who scored the third City goal in all of this:-

Another lad who was playing in Scotland until recently shone today too, Stefan Scougall for Sheff United.
While I see more of Dale these days than I do Scottish games, I still dip my toe in when Dale are away if I can. Standards overall are as poor as ever, but there are still talented players doing their thing.
I watched Hamilton recently and they had a full back that caught the eye - Ziggy Gordon. One to watch for the future.
Currently sporting a model based on that of Friar Tuck but without the hair at the sides. An extremely broad parting. In my case the only mullet of interest is on a fishmonger's slab the common factor being that they are both grey.

So far for my sins and in my long distant youth I have sported hair so long I could sit on it, Chemistry teacher warned me if I turned up at school next day he was putting pink ribbon in it. I did turn up but he didn't put ribbon of any colour in it. I then had a perm Leo Sayer would have been proud of, followed by a green dyed Mohican which so angered the deputy head at Balderstone he suspended me for 2 weeks........I now sport a head of grey hair which I close crop because I can't be arsed with it anymore....Never had a pony tail though, that is a step to far even for me.....
