T'other morning I was watching something on the BBC news celebrating fifty years of BBC2. The news people were interviewing someone who was in on it from the start.
And there, up she popped, the former Play School presenter Carole Chell, looking not a whole lot older than I remember her, smiling just the same way and sounding identical to how she did when I was about 3. This set me thinking. A whole range of telly people from my infancy that I'd completely forgotten about. So I'm trying to assemble a list. So far I've got:
Carole Chell Brian Cant (legendary voice of Camberwick Green, Trumpton, Chigley) Derek Griffiths. Julie Stevens
Any other suggestions?

I always liked the pre Python DO NOT ADJUST YOUR SET and Captain Fantastic who did appear on Magpie. There is an old Vid on youTube with Eric Idle singing with the Bonzos. Rewatched it and as the credits fly by Stuart Hall crops up .........ruined my rose tinted glasses.

The full list of Playschool presenters is available on the Playschool Wikipedia page. Loads of them but amongst the more famous, there was Jeremy Irons, Johnny Ball, Floella Benjamin and Toni Arthur.
Admit it though, at the end of the programme, when the announcer said, 'The pianist on today's playschool was XXXXXXX', you always thought he had said something rude instead of saying pianist.

Thanks Ninco. This is dusting off a few memories of the early 70s. Bloody hell there's Lionel Morton. Miranda Connell. Fantastic. And Stuart McGugan who went on to It ain't half hot mum. Floella.
And the inestimable Fred Harris, who for some reason I thought was Rolf's brother. Saw a clip of film of Fred losing it big time with the Play School toys and knocking them around, accusing them of being flaming amateurs.
