I'm only picking players I saw, and I can't think of ten. I've seen more then ten incredibly gifted players, but these are my only legends. One for record appearances, one for being an incredibly gifted local player who went to the Premier League, two for being our best players in the two promotion seasons I've seen, and one for being our only (I think?) player who went on to play for England.

There are plenty more that could make the list. Dagnall, LeFondre, Buckley, Peake, A.Johnson, Stuart, Murray, O'Grady, Gilks, McEvilly, Platt, Griffith's, Bayliss all for different reasons. I've also only gone for players I've seen.

Like Chaff has said above, the one player I feel we will never see anything like, ever again, is Paddy. I think that makes his legendary. If I hadn't seen him glide past players like he does with my own eyes, I'd have him down as mythical!

I know Shun makes reference to it, but had Lambert's career peaked at Bristol Rovers, would he be included on this list? He had a great spell with us, but to be a Rochdale legend, surely he can only be judged by what he did for us and not what he went on to do - or as mentioned Geoff Thomas would be included for the reasons.
In terms of strikers, you'd have to include Steve Taylor ahead of him due to number of goals scored in a season, Lyndon for his impact on the club staying in the FL, and I'd have said Holt, O'Grady and Henderson have all outperformed him for Dale.
My ten would be in no particular order tho based on impact, ability and pure sentiment: Reeves Dawson Holt Henderson Jones Perkins Buckley Simmonds Taylor Johnson

I included Lambert on the basis of the goals he scored when we were struggling. We could have been in deep trouble if Lambert hadn't stepped up at the time.

Grant Holt and Rickie Lambert as a front 2 was the stuff of dreams at our level. If only they had been able to play a full season together instead of the end of one and the beginning of the next. Has anyone ever worked out the goals/points they/we got if those split seasons had been combined?

Holt's record eclipses Lambert's for sure, but Lambert's more prolific season was in a worse team that finished only a few places above the relegation zone if I remember correctly?
