No, 0844 are "service numbers", whose price is made up of two parts. The first is the the service charge which is the amount set by the company and for 0844 numbers can be up to something like 8p per min. Then on top of that there is the access charge which is imposed by the phone companies. Mobiles are ridiculous and can easily be 50p per minute. Landlines just as bad and are often somewhere between 11-25p per minute depending on who you are with.
So a 3 min call to a 0844 number on a mobile can cost you nearly £2 | | | |
