Scarborough Athletic on 07:35 - Jul 18 by fitzochris | Yes it was that season. I just looked it all up, rather than rely on adolescent memory. The Aldershot win was the opening game of the 90/91 season. I had also forgotten that the 4-0 win over Scarborough was the first of two legs in the Legaue Cup, the second of which we drew 3-3. Being only 10 years old at the time, I wasn't allowed to go to the second leg. Our reward was a 5-0 home battering by Southampton. [Post edited 18 Jul 2017 7:36]

Pretty sure that Southampton was an 8-0 aggregate defeat. Nicky Banger was a hat-trick hero at The Dell and later signed for Owdham.

Don't remember much about Banger, but I do recall a young Alan Shearer making goalscoring look ridiculously easy at Spotland

Their team at Spotland was: Tim Flowers Jason Dodd Micky Adams Russell Osman Neil Ruddock Andy Cook Glenn Cockerill Barry Horne Matt Le Tissier Alan Shearer Rodney Wallace Goals came from Shearer (2), Wallace, Horne and Ruddock.
