Very strong Premier team v not our strongest X1 and we play bury Saturday - it's obviously a game we don't need tonight. |
I agree to some degree.
But defending like this and conceding these sorts of goals won't be doing any of their confidences any favours and it is an ongoing problem that has needed addressing beyond the start of this season.
We also can't have it both ways to beat a League 2 team and be all, really good performance that was all good but then say 'ah well, Premiership team, doesn't matter if we get spanked.'

Agree, tonight is not the game to measure our defence, but against teams from our level is. Anyone who watches us on a regular basis knows we are poor defensively. One thing that really annoys me though is that Hill doesn't even play our best defenders in the right position! Rafferty as an example. He should have strengthened and hasn't and its a glaring error in my view. To say we finished close to the play offs last season isn't a defence (no pun intended) Had we got a half decent defence and not conceded so many late goals then we would have been playing in the Championship this season, probably with those players who left us still in our squad. |  | | |
