I think we need to give Doyle a bit of credit for the third.
It was reminiscent of Steve Whitehall at Scunthorpe in November 1995, albeit from a bit further out.

Very well taken indeed, infact all the goals were well taken, and credit to the goal scorers for all four goals including ours, however all the goals were as a result of poor defending in my opinion.

That could be said about most goals.
I agree with you about goals 1 & 3 and ours, though.
Undoubted knowledge? Or just the application of common sense and using my brain?
Fair enough. Their third wasn’t totally bad from a defensive point of view, especially when compared to one and two, especially considering we would have been chasing the game.

We weren’t chasing the game though, that’s was concerning so many of us.
Steve Whitehall was ace! He’s the exact type of player we’re missing right now, along with an Alan Reeves and Jason Peake.....
Yes they were brilliant players. Reeves second only to Dawson as a Dale Centre half, and both Peake and Whitehall were amongst the better players we have had. Would a Perkins type midfielder be more to our needs in midfield?

It reminded me of that Paul Simpson goal in the FA cup v Dale for Blackpool. Think it was 2-0? Big kick from keeper, flick on and he volleyed it 1st time from around 25yards over Gilks head.
Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Recall Simpson scoring an amazing goal for us V Plymouth, probably in his first Dale game? March 2002 ? (TVOS will correct no doubt!) Doyle's second goal today was fantastic. What a brilliant strike.

He did - and on his Dale debut - on the night Plymouth won promotion.
