Interesting that another long term contract being offered at a time when our status next season is uncertain. Presumably its for league 1 wages so hope it includes a clause that changes that if we go down.

I am generally not in favour of long term contracts at our level except for generally exceptional younger players who we might expect to sell. I dont think Josh is in that category and I cannot see anyone paying a substantial fee for him so not sure what lay behind this.

Have you thought of an answer to the question I asked you yesterday, namely which Dale players do you rate or have ever rated?

In fact, can you answer any questions or post anything constructive instead of just spouting negative bile all the time?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

I think for what wages we can offer there aren't many better keepers out there, especially for shot stopping.

No, it’s a quite simple question, which PG seems to have problems with.

Expecting anything more than the last 6 words of your question would seem like wild optimism. Even expecting an answer would appear to be borderline reckless. "Don't base expectations of future results on past performance" applies to investments, but not all things it would appear.

I would agree with that entirely. It wasn't long ago that he was player of the season in a successful campaign. He has been badly let down by those infront of him.

Poll: Greatest Ever Dale Game

If Saturday's game goes ahead, Lillis will play his 240th game for Dale, taking him past Keith Welch.

Mike Poole (251) and Neil Edwards (277) are the only other Dale goalkeepers ahead of him in the appearances list.

I'm not sure how accurate soccerbase is, but using that site I totalled Josh's Dale appearances in all competitions at 237, or league appearances at 203. If that's true is he approaching the top 10 Dale appearances list?

It's 239, made up of 205 league and 34 cup, which is what it also says on Soccerbase!

181 league & 30 cup in this spell
23 league & 4 cup in 2010/11
1 league in 2009/10

Players in front of him in terms of overall appearances are:

Gary Jones 531
Graham Smith 345
Reg Jenkins 332
Ray Aspden 326
Dave Thompson 310
Wayne Evans 297
Shaun Reid 289
Steve Whitehall 282
Neil Edwards 277
Stan Milburn 269

Gimpy and St Ta on the Facebook page are either related or one and the same. Both bitter and miserable. They most both a barrel of laughs to be with.

How could I forget about Crap? he's in the team. Its hard to know which Crap? or what position? if they were all Crap he could play any position in any formation.

Having seen a dozen or so games this season (and many more over the last few seasons), home and away, I'm surprised that there seem to be more negative than positive comments on here about Josh Lillis extending his contract. He may not be De Gea but he is a very good, solid keeper and you only have to look at the Forum averages for each player this season to see he is up there amongst the most consistent Dale players in a tough campaign. He does make the odd error but near enough every keeper does - even Cech who was the model of consistency when playing behind the best defence in the Premier League at Chelsea, suddenly doesn't look as amazing at Arsenal. Personally, I think it's good news for the club and agree with the fans who say he wouldn't have played the amount of games he has, if he wasn't a good keeper.
