Very effective communication from both Dale and Oldham, especially around their decision to issue a banning order.

Any word on what occurred at the Wigan game?

2 year ban is nowhere near enough. I dread to think what would have happened if he actually got his hands on the referee.

A man has been charged with running onto the pitch - and possessing cocaine - during the League One derby game between Rochdale and Oldham Athletic.

Police said Daniel Brennan, 27, from Oldham, was due to appear in court next month.

He was arrested by police at Rochdale’s Crown Oil Arena ground after an incident towards the end of the first half and charged overnight, Greater Manchester Police said.

Mr Brennan has been charged with three offences in total, the force said.

He’s charged with pitch encroachment under the Football Offences Act 1991; possession of a class A drug, namely cocaine; and a section 4 public order offence of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of, or provoke, unlawful violence.

A GMP spokesman said Mr Brennan was released and was due to make a first court appearance at Manchester and Salford magistrates’ court on May 9.

Agreed, two years isn't enough.

I'd assume the courts will issue a longer ban
