We obviously see the Irish system as an untapped market for players after everyone is now very keen on looking for the next superstar to come out of the English non-league system. Let's hope it works. Delaney has looked to have good potential.

This (as the kids say apparently).
Any doubts about the standard disappeared when we signed Delaney. Its a great market to tap into. News of Delaney's success so far has reached over there, and BBM's popularity over there is proving to be a great "in" with the Irish league, and it wouldn't surprise me if others were to come before the start of the season.

Is this a bit more of the BBM intel?......

He won't be on much and as others have said we've seen enough out of Delaney to suggest there is untapped potential in Ireland. Quietly excited about this signing.

Karl Sheppard set him up for the first goal is Sheppard ex Everton youth!.
Sheppard did indeed play for Everton youth ............incidentally Graham Cummins now plays for Cork ........there was a time Manchester teams appeared to be the teams that had the monopoly on Irish players . They attracted some talent but young talent these days have to lower expectations to prove they are good enough...if they have the mentality and are good enough Dale is the perfect destination (to be sure).

Very much reading between the lines, but does the two year deals being handed out by the club suggest a different way of thinking? Whilst Perkins' may have been a necessary part of the deal, the other three (including Gillam) could all have been one years with a clause for an extension if they followed the pattern of previous years, whilst I'd not be surprised at all if the deals included an extension clause as well.

And does it mean postponed Saturday matches in international breaks due to representative call-ups?
That is a valid question / thought. At present you could have potentially (if the Dale are doing well) 3/4 Irish players on International /youth duty as it stands.
If that was the case its not a bad thing as shows progression I am sure the avid fan would take the hit gladly if the Shamrock train took the Dale on a limited budget to the Championship
