There's one regular Dale fan in this picture looking quite suave in Russia!

Three reasons, its a conspiracy. We don't get on with the Russians lately. If the Russians can fix the US elections for Trump to win, if they can fix the Brexit vote for us to leave Europe. Fixing VAR will be no problem to them.

They intercepted the link and played some action were it showed Kane fouling the Tunisian guy. That's the only explanation. Clearest penalty I've seen in all the comp.

I forgot to add....

2 x England free kicks in dangerous positions in the last 10 minutes.

what happened had me rubbing my eyes in disbelief.

Tripper took the first ( didn't hit the target - well wide )

Young took the second ( didn't hit the target - well wide - blazed over by 10 feet ).

Seriously are these two our best free kick options? MUST do better - do they practice free kicks at all in training?.

Make the keeper work FFS!!

Did you see Kanes free kick attempts in the last euro’s?

Just because they miss one free kick doesn’t mean they werent the right man to be taking them, even ronaldo and messi don’t score every free-kick.

Young has proven pretty decent at free-kicks over his career and happened to score one from a similar position for united this season.

Absolute no issue with him taking them.

Completly agree in an idle world we would have a proven free kick taker ala Beckham, Gerrard but out off the 11 that started about from maybe Kane because hes Kane i would have choose either of them. Ive never seen Alli, Lingard or Hendo take one ao who else is their? Rashfords on the bech and when he came on he was interested. The areas we got fks apart from the 2 from goal were well hit into the right area esp when the had their defensive line pretty much parked on thr halfway line!!! I dont remember them not finding an england shirt from them. Most hit Maguire at the back post, i remember ine hitting kane in the centre and the croner were expecptional. The only thing we can moan about is the lack of cynicalness again. Walker had a mad moment but the defence and kepper might as well have not come out for the second half because it was never near them. It was great to hear the play3rs so calm and anxious for the next game, you can see theyre enhoying it. Note though for them, we burnt oursleves out afyer 20mins in the 1st half probably due to heat if we are going to continue starting that way we have to finish our chance if not well need to conserve our energy better or well be caught out aaunst the belgiums of the world

This is the One, I've waited for

Yes, i saw them at the Euros, when his confidence was rock bottom

Did you see the free kicks he's scored from in the Premier League, when his confidence was high, as of now?

Young isn't even guaranteed a starting place, so better to leave it to someone who is

I’ll be honest I couldn’t ever remember him ever scoring one in the premier league, so i did a bit of research and he’s scored 1 ever..

“Did you see the free kick* he scored from in the premier league, when his confidence was high, as of now”

Fixed that for ya.

Who cares if young isn’t guaranteed a spot, he started the last game and im almost certain he’ll start the next. Young has proven he can score free kicks on a fairly regular basis, he is rightly a candiate when we get one in a good position.

You've fixed f*ck all

Quoting one free kick in league games by Kane, whilst giving one free kick last season by Young as the epitome of success is poor logic

Kane is rightly free to roam in the box when we have a corner. The reason he was taking corners in Euro 16 was his ability with dead-ball kicks. Sure, it was a failed strategy at the time, but his ability with a dead ball (or moving ball, for that matter) is superior to Young's in any measure you care to mention

You're welcome to try again though

well i did fix your sentence, you said free kicks, suggesting there is more than one, when there isn’t.

Young has scored multiple free kicks in the premier league for watford, villa and united, he is just as qualified to be taking them as harry kane.

If Kane was some sort of free kick specialist (which his return suggests he isnt), then i could understand you wanting him to take them, however i’d much rather have a poacher like kane in the box waiting to pounce on any deflections or spills from the keeper.

Oh, well done for fixing a bloody sentence. It means f*ck all

Here's something rather more meaningful:

Of the 46 goals scored by Young in his career, 45 were with his right foot

He's playing on the left side but when he gets in a position to cross the ball, he's unable to use his left foot with any effect and turns inside to transfer to his right

So, England can get a free kick in any position and i'd rather have someone who can use both feet to strike a dead ball whether or not it's on the right or left side of the box

Perhaps you'd like to adjust your opinion so that Young should take direct free kicks with the intention of scoring from one side only? Kane would be more effective than Young on either side of the pitch

Funnily enough Allardyce was on the radio this morning putting the boot in (bitter because he feels he should still be Manager). Doesn't agree with 3 at the back, didn't like Maguire and Stones bringing the ball out saying midfielder's should be doing that - also had the cheek to remark that we had to rely on 2 set pieces to win the game!

It just goes to show that we dodged a bullet there. With most teams playing 3 forwards these days, as opposed to a traditional 4-4-2, to discount 3 at the back is just short sighted. What an earth is wrong with centre backs bringing the ball forward? Especially when the opposition is sitting back and you’ve got someone as good on the ball as Stones. Why is it just midfielders who have to do that? You have to wonder if he’s ever watched international football.

It’s funny how, despite keeping so many teams in the Prem, there’s only Bolton and possibly Sunderland fans who have any fondness for him.

What a load of nonsense..

Wtf difference does it make if someone can use both feet if they are ineffective with both from a dead ball situation.

I can’t say i can ever remember a player who takes free kicks with their weaker foot, so i don’t understand your argument of young being predominantly one footed meaning he shouldnt take them. By that logic you’d never have messi taking a free kick again.

“Kane would be more effective than young on either side of the pitch”

Again, where is your evidence for this, kane is hardly prolific from a dead ball, quite the opposite in fact..

It's nonsense that Young can't cross with his left foot, thus hindering our forward momentum and which may well lead to him being dropped in favour of Rose? That being the case, Kane would be better taking the direct free kicks around the box as of now. Logical, not nonsense

It's nonsense that it's not an advantage to be able to strike a ball effectively with either foot? Having that option alone can be enough to confer an advantage after the wall is positioned. Logical, not nonsense

I'd say Kane's penalty against Dale was THE best example of someone striking a dead ball with deadly pace and precision last season. Logical, not nonsense

All in all, i'll take my 'nonsense' over your failed logic, thanks

He was claiming that because we had 3 at the back and Tunisia weren't even interested in attacking that we were basically 3 men down? By that logic with his rigid 4-4-2 we'd have been 4 men down!! He is indeed a football dinosaur and we definitely dodged a bullet - even if he is Hilly's mate! I'm glad Southgate is sticking to his principles and so glad it paid off in the end - even if it did take a set piece. The emotion he showed at the end and on the pitch getting the fans going with his fist pumps was great to see. I've got a strange feeling that if we do get to the knockout stages that he will get the chance of redemption for Euro 96.

Neither Trippier ( who I thought had a great game ) or Young ( who I thought was poor ) looked like scoring with those two free kicks. The first requirement is to hit the bloody target wether you score or not.
