Great start! 12:42 - Aug 4 with 2318 viewsD_Alien

... to the series against India. Proper test match cricket, and whilst we did our best to chuck it away a couple times we came through in the end with shades of 2005

Bodes well for the remaining matches. Stokes in court next week so his performance with the ball (in particular) in this game will be missed. Great to see fresh faces like Curran coming through so a chance for someone else at Lord's

Superb batting from Kohli, probably the best in the world but very good captaincy by Root, making some tough calls and getting it mainly right

1-0 up and the football to start now

Poll: What are you planning to do v Newport

Great test match and a superb win!

Kohli aside the home advantage should see a series win. Gower spot on the better team won but India have better individuals ( maybe not in Birmingham!! )

Awesome day!! Having a nice drink tonight!!!!

Not this year, no. We do have an Ashes test next summer (well, September) though.

Cracking win to start off what looks like a really exciting series now. Feels like Kohli is going to be the key in every single India innings.

Tangled up in blue.

Interesting first day in court it seems. Original story when it happened seemed to suggest Stokes was sticking up for 2 gay men. Today the prosecution witness says it was him verbally abusing them as well as the bouncer on the door. Be interesting to see what the defence say to counter this when it is their turn.

Mocking them, or mocking them because they were gay ? It remains to be seen, but there is a distinct difference. The press love a good opportunity to bash a celebrity. Let's wait and see........

Completely different from the original story?
Will be interesting to see what happens from here.

And today's take on it. Seems it's one persons word against another.

Looking like a debut for Ollie Pope, another 20yo

A lot of credit for the introduction of (so far) successful youth must go to Ed Smith, the new head of selection. His journalism was top notch after he laid down his cricket bat, and that's being reflected in his judgement of who's ready for the fray
