What is really frustrating is charging forward then we stop and pass back, losing all momentum.
Unless we can sustain a fluid attack, defences will always have time to regroup.
And, were the rest of the team not talking to Cannon or something? He showed some flair when he came on but, constantly stood in acres of space, nobody passed to him. Most odd.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

We had a lot of possestion today without doing anything with it. The play going forward was far too slow to be effective. Peterbourgh are a decent side, they will be hovering around the top 6 all season. They managed us out of contention in the second half, allowing us possesion until the final third and then closed us out. We were reduced to pot shots at best. Heres hoping that we are more effective against Fleetwood.

Delaney made sense. McNulty is a weak link on the left of a back three and better in the centre. He isn’t going to play there while we have MJ Williams available, so his place on the bench was inevitable today.

He played there last week and we won, albeit riding our luck at times. This week we change it and get hammered....maybe it would've been worse with Jimmy playing, who knows.

If you watch the game back from last week, watch the space between him and Done and watch how Burton exploit it.

Today was nothing to do with McNulty’s absence.

No need to panic after today; nothing more than a bad day at the office for me. Beaten by an excellent team who let us have the ball and then were devastating on the counter. Defensively we were poor but teams have poor defensive displays all the time. I also don't think Wilbraham was that poor; he was immediately swamped every time he received the ball so couldn't make any real impact; obviously he knows he should score that chance today.
Just a minor setback, we'll be fine in my opinion.

First time seeing MJ Williams, liked the look of him, looks very composed on the ball (aside from the third goal) I feel he'd be very useful further the pitch.

Here's my thoughts for what they are worth...

We played some nice pretty passing football in the first quarter of an hour, and looked threatening, but didn't have enough efforts on goal. Yes we got a penalty and scored, but I can't remember their keeper making too many saves.

The 5 at the back relies on the two wing backs being able and willing to attack. Matty Done had a shocker of a game, and was like a frightened kid when faced with the option of going forward, which all too often resulted in the ball either going sideways, backwards or being passed to a Posh player. He really should have scored when left unmarked just before they made it 3-1. If that goes in... different game.

Although Rafferty started well, he cost us their first goal when he fell over looking for a foul that never was, resulting in them having an unchallenged cross and a free header from inside the six yard box.

The second goal also came down Raff's side and was a needless free kick given that was put to the far post, where they had an unchallenged headed back across goal and then another unchallenged header past Lillis. Awful defending from start to finish for that one.

Third goal: Yet another free kick given away. This time, Lillis is too far over and flaps at the ball and they get a tap in.

Game almost over.

Second half... we had lots of the ball, but it was Posh who looked more likely to score, . MJ Williams getting all tangled up on half way gifted them their fourth in stoppage time.

Lessons to be learned?

Posh are a good team and caused us huge problems. They easily coped with our slow build up play. Their pace and willingness to shoot was good to watch.

Our Wing backs need to do an awful lot better both defensively and offensively to make 5 at the back effective.

Camps will play some fabulous passes but also play some hopeless ones.

Perkins has still got what it takes to run the midfield against many teams at this level, but needs to take more care with passes.

In Wilbraham and Andrew, we have two quite similar players. Both work hard, but neither are prolific. We must play Henderson alongside or just behind one or other of them rather than wasting him in midfield.

Inman is frustrating. All the ingredients are there, but sometimes it's as though he isn't on the pitch.

MJ Williams is a very good player.

We dust ourselves down and move on.

Finally, thank goodness we don't have to witness Steve Evans and his horrible assistant again at Spotland. Pretty much any decent referee would have sent the chubby so and so's to the stand for their foul mouthed rants, not to mention countless encroachments onto the pitch. What horrible people they are.

Hill was quite positive in his post-match interview. He said he was pleased with how we played, as it reflected what we did on the training ground, but he was disappointed with three defensive mistakes and one, what he termed, in-possession mistake.

Regarding my earlier comment about not shooting, is this a possible explanation. Players are told to only shoot if they are confident it will not lead to giving possession back to the opposition?
On the subject of lack of goal scorers. Hendo, Camps, Inman and others, have all showed in the past they are capable of finding the net

Any player in the team is capable of finding the net. Of those mentioned, only Henderson is capable of doing it consistently, but he is being played too deep.

It's been mentioned before - but Calvin is our best defender when he's on the pitch at set pieces. We missed him today in the 1st half and he may start the next few games at least.

What's the fascination with playing Hendo in every position but up front? I don't ever want to see him playing RB again. Ever.

Wow great to be back.

We still haven’t addressed the lack of goals for me, if we’re looking towards wilbraham for goals, we’re f*cked.

How is camps still getting picked week in, week out and playing 90 minutes every time. He’s been out of form for so long now i think he needs a spell put of the team. The amount of times he gives the ball away and his decision making is laughable.

Perkins looks like he’s still got it even at 35, very happy to have him in the midfield and adds what was missing last year.

Leader of the little gang of immature cretins.

Had a beer before the game at the medicine tap with the parents of their right back Naismith , they said he moved to posh to double his wages. Nice people, and they paid for my taxi!

Absolutely tremendous player is Naismith, and O’Hara. Especially for “jock imports”.

Naismith was a stand out in a rank rotten Ross County team last season, and O’Hara could’ve, perhaps should’ve, got a Championship club.

Well we pay them to defend which they didn't do today - still doesn't mean Calvin isn't very important when he's on the pitch and we are defending a corner or free kick - we missed him today.

Yes, it’s amazing how actually watching players can give you an impression as to their ability, rather than writing them off at the outset because of what country they play in.
