We all know the story, we've all read about it, watched it, bloody hell a lot of us were there on that last day to experience it but its STILL an incredible watch and an incredible story.
This is a wonderful (fairytale) story on so many levels - overcoming adversity, sticking by people, the power of both family and human relationships, kindness, giving unsolicited support, the wonders of medical science and the icing on the cake to elevate it to "Boys' own" status, scoring the "goal that kept us up".
One thing that doesn't seem to be being reported as much, however, is the work Joe is doing as a mentor and motivator/motivation in support of other sufferers. His selflessness, when the course of least resistance might be to adopt a "victim" mentality, shows not only his fighting character but also his compassion and decency as a human being. All of this after a tough upbringing.
He deserves every good thing that comes his way for the rest of his life. Well done Joe. A true role model and an absolute bona fide ambassador for RAFC.

Apart from the obvious, it must be said that Rochdale is his club and he holds it very dear to his heart. To score the goal that saves his club from relegation must have been a wonderful feeling, even without all the baggage he has had to cope with. To do it after all he went through, ( to even get on the bench) must have been an indescribable feeling. Nobody deserved it more than him, I only wish we had a few more with his level of determination.

Finished reading the book on Saturday. It's a fantastic read and you'll be in years several times. Must admit, thought it was just going to be some publishers cashing in but there's not one bit of that. Might sound stupid but I won't offer any spoilers so people can read it themselves (you really need to). One thing I will say is that last year was more of a miracle than any of us realised. Thought it was the footballing story of Hollywood anyway but wow!
