Bristol An Interesting Defensive Test 14:51 - Oct 1 with 1163 viewsjonahwhereru

I note that the Rovers are scoring less than a goal a game thus far.

We have played mostly top half sides that have been knocking a few in so far this season. So this will really be a significant test for the Dale defence tomorrow. There should be no hiding place if we concede 2 or more goals. That would surely require a dramatic rethink of our defensive set up.

Bristol have also only conceded 11 goals. Their start seems similar to ours last season, trying to keep everything tight

Tomorrow could be a turgid affair where we may need a bit of guile to break them down. That would point to Hendo and Clough paired up top.

Have a good feeling about this one and will offer a 2-0 Dale.

Up the Dale.

A lot will depend on whether injuries to McGahey & Hart prevent them taking part. They'd both be among the first names on the teamsheet if fit. Not sure if MJWilliams might be available either

Whatever the starting X1, we should be revisiting the tactics which saw us overcome Gillingham 3-0, with Hendo up top and Andrew/Wilbraham out wide. If that's not working, Clough coming off the bench for a longer period would be interesting to watch

Think we'll be fine tomorrow. Barnsley, Portsmouth and Peterborough are all super outfits at this level and we gave 2 of those (apart from Barnsley) a decent game until conceding. What Keith and Alby said at the weekend is true, we are very close to being a good side.
Camps was poor again on Saturday, for me Rathbone and Cannon have to start ahead of him at the minute. Calvin and Alby out wide, Clough and Henderson in the middle.
Hopefully MJ and McGahey are back fit as we definitely are a better side with them in the team for me.
Nice 3 points, back on track ready for a tough but winnable away game on Saturday.

All 10 of Bristol's league matches this season have been close, apart maybe from a 3-1 win over Coventry two Saturdays ago. Of the other 9, 2 were draws and 7 decided by a single goal. They drew 0-0 at Bradford on Saturday and could offer another defensive display tomorrow.
