Last season with 16 games to go we came up with a clear plan to avoid relegation, one Hill rightly points to as a massive success. It worked so well that it could be argued it’s one of his biggest achievements as a manager. This time with 16 games to go we need something similar which all the players respond to as they did a year ago. The difference is we are doing it now with a squad containing a lot of new players and one where it’ll be a task for the manager to keep everyone involved as well as concentrate on a similarly clear, hopefully successful plan. There’s no doubt the quality of the squad has improved, it’s quantity remains a potential problem though as we’ve all seen how constantly rotating options hasn’t worked. Still, at least we don’t have to wonder who’ll be in goal.
The first of those 16 games last season was at Walsall and the result reflected the effectiveness of the plan the manager and his team had come up with. Let’s hope it’s equally obvious today. |  |

Players with passion are in such as Pyke and other players are excused duties with their weak bladders, such as Perkins. He has recruited real fighters with his stash from the outgoing players. And with it comes a battle mentality that the enemy will not defeat little Rochdale. Walsall have strengthened too and will provide a tough test but our troops must get a result today to kickstart the 16 game campaign.
It’s no longer a case of “we performed well”, it’s all about how many points did we add to our tally. That is the game we are in now, and fully focused. No time for taking prisoners.

Going to make an unbalanced argument now. Willing to overlook the lack of game time and start Clough with Calvin dropping to the bench. Because of lack of game time I would not start Bunney. I would have him on the bench and Start Delaney. Think lack of game time is more of a concern in a defensive mode. If we played with wing backs then Bunney would be worth a shout.
Think we can get something out of today’s game but a win would pull Walsall further down into the mix. It’s about time we hit our straps and put a few results together.
