I remember the likes of Geoff Capes and Brian Jacks being regulars on this programme.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

I joined Rochdale Judo Club, in a vain attempt to raise my fitness levels, after seeing him do those.

Wasn't there some sort of controversy over his squat thrusts, when he used a dubious 'sliding' technique to almost double the totals of his opponents?

Loved Superstars, killer theme tune and as has been alluded too above, it could never happen today with such high profile sportsmen.

Ahh superstars. My favourite program barring international pro celebrity golf !

I remember they always used to finish with s 400m steeplechase. But David Emery had a handicap and had to run 500m. He won regardless.

They did revive the program about 10 years ago .

Chuckle at Downunder's post above!
I seem to remember for the squat thrusts he had a technique of shifting the weight over his shoulders and balancing and then he just pumped his legs like a piston. Don't know if he had Vaseline on the toe caps of his trainers but he certainly got the hang of it. There's probably a youtube vid of it somewhere!?

The guy with the sun tan lotion on his trainers was the Grand Prix driver Jochen Mass. Basically supported his weight on his hands and slid his arse backwards and forwards very rapidly.

Looked like he was shagging an invisible dachshund...
