I think that fighting at the races is more prevalent than you'd think.
Over 20 years ago I went on a mates stag do which took in Haydock Park in the afternoon and then onto Blackpool.
Two of the lads on the trip were arrested when it kicked off in one of the bars and I was gobsmacked when I went to help bail them out at the end of the meeting. There's a fully fitted police station under one of the stands at Haydock with about ten cells, full custody suite facilities, police mess room, the lot.
The lads in question were charged and bailed on the spot so the authorities must expect trouble as routine to build such a facility? | | | |
