It certainly seems the extra days off training made little difference. The concession of late goals would suggest we were no fresher than Wimbledon.

That sentence sums up everything that's wrong at the club.

Hill could have had 3 days practicing 'shape' and defensive responsibilities to help us get out of this mess, but no, all have 5 days off lads!

He simply isn't arsed any more, yet the board do nothing.

Everything thats been, has past. The answers in the looking glass!

Im not sure the 95th min penalty was down to any fitness issues or freshness. I think the stats were 17 shots 7 on target for us and 22 shots 7 on target for them - it was end to end stuff and defending went out of the window for both teams all night - and before the late penalty we'd had dangerous attacks minutes before. Last nights result isn't a final nail in the coffin by any means and we may have easier games against teams with nothing to play for coming up. We are still in a better 'points/games left' position than last season but you don't really want back to back home defeats at this stage : in the remaining 13 games last season we won 4,drew 5 and lost 4. Can we win at Plymouth? At the minute its probably more likely than at home.

Granted I watched the game via VPN but I definitely think Wimbledon looked the sharper in the final throes of the match.

As summed up earlier, there were positives, but these are outweighed by the fact we conceded four goals at home to a side bottom of the league.

Three points were essential last night, as far as I’m concerned. To not even get one is very disappointing and, frankly, concerning.

Three points chucked out the door against the bottom club. Yet again Afc W come to Rochdale and win. Disheartening is an understatement.

Sorry marked down by mistake. It is soul destroying watching Dale at the moment. And I cannot see it changing at all.

"we looked vulnerable defensively tonight"........you don't say, as we are dicked another 4 goals!

"Get the intelligence and balance right and we will be ok"........was he watching us or Liverpool on Sky?

As he hasn’t got the balance right all season, his complacency in the interview is staggering.

Looking at Wimbledon's recent results/performances there is a good chance that they could do a 'Dale' and get out of their mess. At the moment Walsall and us are more likely to drop - obviously a win at Plymouth changes things again. It will certainly go down to the last few games again as to who holds their nerve/gets a bit of luck.

For Hill to say last night was not a must win game is ridiculous. Playing the bottom side, 3 days after they were knocked out of the cup, when we have much tougher games ahead . I think he wants the crowds to dip even further so he can blame a poor atmosphere

The thing is going off the season ticket sales it’s fair to say the majority of our support have season tickets. People are literally not turning up for a product that they have already paid for. How will they market season tickets next season. I definitely won’t be renewing even If we do stay up.

Crowd was v sparse last night, if I didn’t live locally, and didn’t have a season ticket I wouldn’t have gone. No other club would leave a failing manager at the helm this long

After the Coventry match, I finished a post with the following

"What I expect after yesterday is more pissing about at the back, looking for "safe" passes (square or backwards) which play team-mates into trouble and end up giving the ball away anyway, but nearer to our own goal. More slow, ponderous build up. Wimbledon will no doubt park the bus and attack us on the break. I wouldn't be shocked if we are even more timid, even more paralysed with energy-sapping fear and come away with a point at best. I hope I get to eat every single one of these words, with a slice of humble pie on the side. I also hope our inspiration comes back from somewhere. I think you are right in that it has to come from the top. It has to be Keith Hill inspiring his team to fight. We have to recover our home form somehow. It's nowhere near a mathematical crisis yet, but for me it's a crisis of confidence now. This is a test of the manager as much as the team in my eyes. He has to get the team to believe again"

So how did we match up against my worst fears? Well, better in most respects tbh. We did at least have a go. We did play forward balls almost from the off. We varied our attack, our crosses and played with purpose and intent for some passages, so that was refreshing. In the first quarter of the game, we pressed Wimbledon and closed them down when they attacked. We went ahead twice and we scored three goals at home. All that should have been enough against a team adrift at the bottom of the division, but what a shameful defensive display. Beyond woeful.

Why did we stop meeting their attacks with challenges and not try to close them down? Why were all their players in space? The passage of play at the end when Wimbledon won about 7 second balls in our box and were queueing up to try to score whilst we watched on was downright unprofessional. Regardless of your opinion of KH, the players have to take some responsibility for that because they showed in the first 1/4 of the game that they know what to do. I don't buy into the fatigue argument - it comes down to belief in my view and we didn't. And going forward, that confidence-sapping loss will probably further erode our self belief.

Co-incidentally, I brought my neighbour to the game. He paid a fiver and saw 7 goals so was well entertained. He liked a lot of what we did and could see we have some ability, but also was dismayed at the space we left Wimbledon to play in and was not surprised at all that we have shipped so many goals, letting the other team play like we do. I remember when other teams let us do that. Now teams come to Spotland and press us knowing we will make mistakes, knowing our heads will drop and knowing we are extremely beatable with a sustained effort on their part. We've seen it from two very beatable teams in the last two games, who both wanted it more than us.

I am still dismayed that the foul on Hendo was not given and poor Luke did what he did - heart-wrenching to see the lad, head in his shirt, being escorted off by Calvin with his arm around him. It never should have come to that though. We never should have surrendered two leads and we shouldn't be in this mess. It seems to be like sinking sand now though - the more we struggle the deeper we sink.

That was a tough loss to stomach. Survival is not beyond our reach on paper, but I wonder if it is psychologically now. I certainly hope not, but just can't see where any consistency is coming from to allow us to pull to safety. Very worrying times to be a Daley.

After the squad-churning and stomach-churning, i reckon we have one last throw of the dice and that's the introduction of the Irish lad (Keohane?) as a holding midfielder, in place of Camps whose presence on the pitch contributes to our defensive woes whilst offering nothing going forward. If he can add some grit and protection in front of the back four, there were some slightly more positive signs going forward

What's happened to the two Williams? Why was Clough not even on the bench last night, whilst both Andrew and Wilbraham were which is a waste of at least one sub option? The KH black hole continues to suck the life out of our support

There's the big problem,he genuinely has nothing to fear such is the contract he's on,it's close on impossible to remove him without it costing a fortune sadly.

He doesn't seem slightly arsed during interviews and if we go down we go down, accept it attitude. His lack of bollox and urgency is staggering yet its become all too familiar, and it's mirrored perfectly in the results/performances too.

Can't see us getting out of it now to be honest. Using last season as a barometer/way of comparison is futile. We were rejuvenated by our cup run and were still extremely fortunate to survive. KH also decided to stop playing silly buggers with team selection and picked a settled side, utilised effective tactics and executed some sort of plan.

The chances of any of that happening now are slim to bubcus. Defensively, lessons haven't been learnt and the buck stops with the manager. I know he wasn't the best defender ever but the fact that he plied his trade as a CB makes it even worse.

Tbf, it would be just like us to go and win at Plymouth on Saturday. However, we can't keep relying on Ryan Giggsesque levels of playing away. Our home form is pish and will ultimately relegate us along with our schoolboy like defending.

Reality check - there's probably as much chance of us going down again than coming back up if we do get relegated. Where's the rope?

Could you not see him tending his allotment till his contract runs out? So we pay Keef for doing nowt. Bring in another manager or promote from within = another wage or pay rise? The combination of club finances and Hill's contract appears to mean he won't be sacked moved to a different role or put on gardening leave

I hadn't been to a league game since Accrington in November before last night, although I've been listening to the games and following them closely.

I genuinely didn't think things could be that bad but I was terribly mistaken.

There is no fight to the team, especially in defence (minus EEL who looks solid). McNulty was a disaster last night, there was a time in the 2nd half where he played a passback to Lonergan but absolutely rifled it at him so he could only slice it out of play.

The amount of suicide passes that were played was unbearable to watch.

Also, the actual backpass incident was probably the most stupid thing I've seen in a high level football game since Bury's keeper caught the ball outside the are a few years ago.
The ball was clearly passed back by a Dale player, and Lonergan just picked it up - it felt like I was watching kids who didn't know the rules.

I can't justify spending 17 quid a week to watch this at the moment. This week marks my 20th anniversary of attending my first Dale game (1-1 draw v Cardiff 27feb99) but it's just so miserable at the moment.

Wish I'd chosen a different username...

If he is on gardening leave he can’t keep cocking things up, the damage being done to morale, both of the team and the fans is costly, relegation will be costly . At some point he will be removed, I hope it’s soon

Despite the goals it was a game played by 2 poor teams. Only thing to grasp at the moment is that the likes of Gillingham, Oxford, Bristol Rovers and Walsall can’t buy a win either.

Because we already had all 5 of the loanees who are allowed in one match day squad playing. It’s pyke or clough at the minute, given that we’re forced into using a loanee goalkeeper..

Pyke or Clough or Holden given that EEL, Hamilton and Bunney seem to be shoo-ins.

Being an outsider I have just dismissed the Rochdale fans complaints about Hill as bad treatment of a man they owe much to. A bit like Arsenal fans with Wenger.
Had a good look around the past week or so and I now realise that you're right and he is the problem and he doesn't seem to be concerned about the possibility of a relegation.
What ever happens next I don't know, but I think that Mr. Dunphy's hasty retreat must have been a sign of the way things are at your club. I couldn't understand why the best chairman in the lower leagues left halfway through the season.
Hope you sort it out smartish like, and I hope you're still in league one next year as it looks like we may be back.
Good luck with or without Keith.
