Confirm they will not be at the Ricoh next season. Reading their statement it seems that Wasps refused to co-operate with any negotiations.

4.9 miles.

Totally different situation anyway.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

If I remember correctly Brighton played at Gillingham for a time which is 70+ miles from Brighton.

Yes, and I think we were the last team to play them there.

That was before the MK debacle, however, and the rule change. You can argue about the distance but the rule is sound in my opinion.

Didn't Chester also play at Macclesfield at one stage?

Ground share should not be any further than a 15-20 mile radius in my opinion.

Does anyone remember Colne Dynamoes? Didn’t they win promotion to the Conference but failed the ground test. They asked Burnley if they could ground share with them but they said no (bit too much competition at the time) and Colne consequently threw the towel in and folded.
Have I got that right or was there more to it? I remember thinking it was another reason to hate Burnley at the time.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

They were a bit of a Salford City and AFC Fylde spending huge sums to get up the leagues, but I think the owner closed them down when he got bored or ran out of money. The ground did fail its grading though.

Yes he was a Colne player

I think that the moneyman behind Colne was a guy called Graham White who had made his money in property and timber.
He was reputedly spending about £10k a week on the club in 1989 with players like Alan Kennedy playing for a spell.
He offered Burnley something like £500k a year to groundshare but the Turf Moor board turned it down. I suspect that they saw him as some sort of Trojan Horse because they were pretty crap themselves at the time.
He tried to groundshare at places like Preston and even Bury but the Conference were having none of it and he just pulled the plug on the club at short notice.
