Not certain on this but I think he bought Dave Cross from us in the early 70's when he managed Norwich for about 40k. Got them super fit with heaps of sandhill running and they surprised quite a few teams in what was then division 1

Yes , led norwich into the promised land and got Cross for a song. Took them to wembley in league cup.

Later took Aston Villa to the title and produced the team that went on to be european champions.

Old school manager who got results.
