Now that the cup runs are over. 10:41 - Jan 15 with 1628 viewselectricblue

Like the title says, now that the cup runs are over with for the season how much have Dale earned!
My guess is about £650k cant honestly see it being much more..

I think i the money would be better used to keep the club afloat tbh on next season as the monies earned will not be budgeted for.....

United Game...£462K, FA Cup Television payments (2 live games, 2 Sunday fixtures) £240K. FA Cup Prize money 90K, percentage gate receipts from 6 cup ties..180K (guess). Monies generated through corporate/ hospitality/ sponsorship..?? The sum is around about £1million, the figures I quoted regarding television payments and prize money can't be disputed because they are stipulated amounts easily accessible on the internet. Then we have the 900K Dawson payment this year and have also sold MGahey, Adshead, Cannon, Rafferty. You don't have to be a mathematical genius to work out that the last 12 months has been financially fabulous for the Club. Playing United at OT and Newcastle twice in the same season is unheard of, no matter how much the odd individual will try to belittle it.

This seasons cup runs have provided a nice bit of income then, more than i thought.....

The players fee i was not accounting for as they are paid via installments etc....

We desperately need another 2 players IMO as cover at least. Last nights lg1 results did us no harm but there’s a worrying little gap now between Accrington in 17th & Shrewsbury. It’s increasingly looking like a 5 way dogfight for the 1 remaining relegation spot.

BBM needs to be allowed to plan for next season now. Whatever shape shifting he needs he should start this month if he can. If we can start to see more progress on the pitch then people may get off his back a bit. A few wins at home and a bit of entertaining footie and we can see the season as a success. We don't need another dogfight to the end.

I no longer believe anything we get told on the numbers on here as it is all best guesses and speculation. Lets see what we are told at the fans forum

That’s the exact fan mentality that killed Bury FC, wait until fans forums etc and believe everything they are told. The figures at the forum won’t relate to the last 12 months, it will be the season before when Hills budget was increased by the then Chairman and our current Directors. It’s actually not that difficult to take a bit of ownership as a fan and look at the money generated from cup ties/ television appearances/ prize money/ gate receipts, it won’t be to the pound on gate receipts but a lot of the information is set out on the FA Web Site.

In this day and age when we are seeing more and more Football Club Boardrooms being infiltrated with con men do you think it’s acceptable that there should be ‘undisclosed’ transfer fees etc ? Anyway, if you do a bit of work on the Internet and ask around you often find out the transfer fee involved, Scunthorpe United were quick to reveal how much they paid for Magahey, when if I remember rightly we announced it as ‘undisclosed’. I don’t know anybody in our current Boardroom personally, so why should I trust them when it comes to dealing with sums of monies totalling millions of pounds...would they trust me in the same circumstances? You hope they are trustworthy but you can never be sure and that’s why in the current climate every fan should try to make a note of extra money being generated and ask difficult questions rather than keeping quiet.

Maybe I’m paranoid but like a lot of Dale fans I’ve invested an awful lot into this Club and I’m not just talking money I’m talking time, emotion and a big chunk of my life, there is no way I will just sit back and let a few fellas at the top table do as they want with the Club without holding them to task and I’m sure there are hundreds of others just like me. Just accepting what you are told is a recipe for disaster and if Chairman and Director’s don’t like the scrutiny then they are going to have to get used to it because it will only intensify. In the current climate it has to do and let’s face it if there is nothing to hide then scrutiny should be welcomed.

It’s not healthy when you have half a dozen people who are allowed to make very important decisions regarding your Football Club and they don’t feel a need to consult with the supporters or shareholders first, it causes a lot of suspicion and it’s killed bury, wrecked Oldham, crippled Macc and buggered Bolton. We’ve generated a awful lot of money over the last twelve months but it seems to have been treated as an irrelevance by those in the Boardroom for some reason, that’s the exact sort of attitude that makes me suspicious . Past Chairman and Directors would have been singing from the rooftops having played at Old Trafford and then Newcastle twice, at least acknowledge and show a little bit of happiness about it.

It's reported that Mike Ashley turned up at SJP last night

Bet that made for a few interesting conversations in the hospitality suite

I agree with that but the issue isn't necessarily what the income figures are, it's what the outgoing figures show. The incoming fees from cup competitions and transfer fees are all very guessable. There will be costs that we won't have any knowledge of as fans that is causing the issues.

I also happen to think we have a fanbase with people who will be able to pick at bits of uncertainty and call to question any smell of wrong doing when the accounts come out. The accounts and the forum will be very interesting to see where some of our current issues are as there will be stuff overhanging from the accounts we get that will give big indications of current costs.

We need as many to turn up to the forum as possible so we all get a better understanding and any questions can be asked and answered.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

the eternal footie fans dilemma - feels like 'our' club but it's a private company and we aren't responsible for its financial success or failure - however much we've invested as fans it'll never be enough to bankroll the Club . Perhaps for some on the Board it's a case of once bitten..... we get news of an unexpected one-off windfall and suddenly keyboard managers are proposing half a dozen £1M signings and £250,000 wage bill additions for the next decade. Let's await the full picture, not only the past bonuses but the future liabilities too.

The way i see it and i have for a very long time, the small amount of people who run the club, take the Dale for instance the board see the actual supporter as insignificant except for the money they hand over..

Supporters hand over wads of hard earned cash and basically all they want is to see are decent 11 onfield players doing their utmost for their club...

The board will never be open to scrutiny and certainly not by the paying man on a saturday.

Yes, I accept that, my post is in relation to the EXTRA finance we have generated during the last 12 months, through transfer dealings and cup ties etc. We know the financial figures being presented at the forum will be poor because Hills budget was increased, most of our current Directors were responsible for that remember, alongside Chris Dunphy. Hill was also just allowed to carry on collecting players when the reality was he should have been sacked much earlier than he was.

It was a season of overspending but the squad we have now is smaller and boosted by youth players, so there must have been a cut in the budget. The forum date being changed means I won’t be in the Country because I’m away for quite a while, but the bonus is that it will be recorded in full or maybe a live link will be set up? The problem with forums is there isn’t enough time to direct any questions to the replies given properly and if fans are being bombarded with facts and figures it’s very difficult to digest or even remember the information and then formulate a question.

If there are financial or other presentations from one or two Directors then why can’t they do it on the Clubs media channel and put the presentation on the Club Website maybe a week before the forum? That would be a big help to those attending and wanting to ask questions.

Without copying lengthy posts, i'm not sure its fair to make out that Dalenet's intention was to act in a manner similar to fans of neighbouring clubs - it didn't strike me as being acquiescent

His "let's see what happens at the forum" might best be viewed as we'll all have more grist to chew on after that event rather than suggesting we just take it as read; and tbf that wasn't the main point of his post

The reason i say this is because it's easy to pick up on (and misinterpret) remarks made at the end of posts when that wasn't the purpose of the post - it happens quite a lot...

Yes, that’s a fair point and you are correct. I’m not unfamiliar with ‘presentations’..the key to a good one is preparation and also having the ability to pre-empt any questions that are generated. A good presentation can sometimes paint whatever picture you want and can often be difficult to argue with at that moment in time.

You can sugar coat any idea in the world but when it comes to football it’s all about the results on the pitch and at our level, money needs to be prioritised in that direction. If the night is just going to be about the overspending during that particular year then the current Directors are well placed to explain things because they would have sanctioned increases in budgets and player signings etc, unless everything will just be blamed on Chris Dunphy?

Anyway, hopefully the fans not only attending on the night but those watching the recording/live stream will keep an open mind and look at the full impact of everything presented, especially if it is going to involve extra financial burden on the Club...we’re supposedly broke now aren’t we?
