Amazing to think he was in his forties before he embarked on a 50 year career on the show.

Parson's was an absolute wonder of broadcasting. Just a minute has a legacy that almost no other show can stack up to. The wide range of people singing his praises as a proffesional and as a human speaks volumes.

I had the joy of seeing his one man show up at the Edinburgh fringe festival a few years ago and he was still a superb entertainer.

A real loss.

Absolutely.
He always had a great rapport with the regulars like Paul Merton and at the same time, you could hear what a nice bloke he was when putting newcomers at their ease.
My money's on Gyles Brandreth to take up the stopwatch.

When you see some of the gongs and knighthoods being awarded in Honours Lists, his CBE seems scant reward for 80 years in the entertainment industry. He was surely deserving of a knighthood at least as much as some who have them.

A brilliant, versatile entertainer who will be much missed.

I'd expect so. I had tickets to see a live recording of just a minute at the Edinburgh fringe last year. Parson's was unwell and it was Brandreth who stepped in, as he usually does.
