Who are we having then?

League Two:
Cheltenham, Exeter, Colchester, Northampton

I think Cheltenham will win, they’re the best of the four and they play some really nice stuff. Although my preference would be Northampton. Always had a soft spot for them.

League One:
Wycombe, Oxford, Fleetwood, Portsmouth

I kind of hope Wycombe do it just to see Peterborough’s chairman explode. It’d be nice to see a small club get promoted too. Although I’ll be glad to see the back of Portsmouth - they always hammer us down there and their fans seem just as deluded as any other big club in the lower leagues.

Looked up the head to head stats between Dale and the above teams. Until I did I had never heard of the Freight Rover Trophy.

Wasn't it the EFL Trophy but rebadged for sponsorship (could be wrong mind)

There's a quiz question the different sponsors of that competition.

Did you go to the game against Middlesbrough back in 1987?

Aye, it was a competition for Football League clubs. I think you were one at the time.

A very entertaining 0-0 draw.

Keith Welch for Dale and Stephen Pears for 'Boro both outstanding in goal.

The two teams were the furthest apart possible in the competition, as Boro were top of Division Three and we were bottom of Division Four.

Boro brought well over 1500 fans and they played in a lovely Hummel strip which had a young 442 claiming that "Bob Mortimer must know what's out there".

Considering the difference in league positions and our general crapness at the time, we played well and deserved a draw and subsequent penalty shoot-out.

Unfortunately Boro won through on spot-kicks, while we went back to crap league performances until we brought in Lyndon Simmonds.

So It's Hull, Charlton and Wigan subject to appeal, If Wigan win their appeal then it's Barnsley instead.

Well done Luton, amazing escape from where they were a few weeks ago

Wonder how long Chalky will take to have a chortle at Forest completely bottling it for a play off spot? a 3-1 loss at home would have seen them through but they lost 4-1 !! to Stoke !!!!!

Even if they’d kept it at 1-3 they’d have missed out as Swansea got a fourth and were ahead on goals scored.

The Great Escape part 2 for Barnsley. They've been in the bottom 3 since September! Wigan's 12 point deduction and 6 points in the last 2 games v Forest and Brentford (both injury time winners) has seen them stay up. Incredible.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Crazy night.

One aspect of Wigan’s point deduction though means we now have a mid-table Championship side playing in League One next season.

Made me think watching the scores last night.
There was a song from the terraces all over the land in the 70's (happy to be corrected) to the tune of land of hope and glory that always started with "We hate Nottingham Forest" and the next 2 lines were localised about who you hated and ended up with "but Rochdale (substitute other team) wee ee love you. "

Forest dropped a right clanger last night and their manager admitted it. He won't last. Good job he's not called "Kieth" or the flags would be out in County land. They have one already. Fook off Chalky.
